Just joined the computer age and stumbled on this site. Would like to contact friends from Misawa. Spent most of my time in the "Alley" and the Stand Bar, Home of 1st Radio. Was not a very good boy! Some names I remember: Phil Doucette, Tiny Tim Tyler, Charles Patti, Dick Graham, John Walczek and many others. Hope all is well and thanks for the memories!!! Don Taylor

Misawa memories are good ones. Especially riding the trains on the "backside" of the island on "May Day" 1964. I didn't know what those guys were saying but I knew they were upset!! Beautiful people, beautiful culture. I grew up during this tour. Then went to Peshawar by way of Trabazon. A trip that should be relived if I could find the two guys I was with!?! Fantastic memories of Misawa, Trabazon, and Peshawar.

I was just 18 when I arrived there.I was drunk and home sick a lot. I was X1..some good friends. Al Garner, Ed Mularkey and Clint Frizell, Bo Mosely and Gary Noya. I took some classes through University of Maryland which kept me in line some what. I enjoyed the afterswings bowling leagues. Our team was the "Off" brothers. I was surplussed in '79 and crosstrained into Air Traffic Control. This worked out well as Regan fired most of them 6 months before I got out. I still work for the FAA today. I have some fond memories of my days in Misawa. I wonder what I'd be doing if I didn't get surplussed. I loved the job but dittybops aren't exactly in demand.

Love the site. The Misawa-isms crack me up! Spent time on Crete, Misawa, at the NSA, and at Feltwell. I really loved my time at Misawa. I remember it as my favorite tour. Good times, bad times, and times that were way to crazy. Thanks for the awakening of some old, dear memories!!

It was really good to hear from so many that I was stationed with. Glad to have known all that I remember. Glad to be member of the USAFSS Misawa site.

I went to Misawa unaccompanied after getting married at Tech school in Pensacola to a Marine, Mike. Lived on "the hill" in the girls dorm. I was a 202X2 but trained in AIT and stayed at that rack for my whole tour. Guys from the NSGA side would come over and check me out because they said I had a sexy voice! ha! It was really hard to be without my husband there, but I found Jesus in Misawa! :) My fondest memories are of the OCSC Hospitality House outside the base where Ray and Char Houser ministered and had home cooked meals for us once a week. Also I made good friends, Trish Hogan, Larry and Debbie Ogden and I still keep in touch with them today. The festivals were awesome, and going off-base was always a wonderful adventure. Mike and I are a sucess story, the odds weren't good but God is... We are still married after 28 years, have three wonderful children and a grandchild on the way. I cross-trained to a 202 after Misawa and was stationed with Mike at Homestead until my 4 was up. Mike stayed in for 11, then went civilian and still is. Old supervisors Wayne Smuck, Art Helfter and Frank Fedarko was my Flight Commander. Would love to hear from anyone who shared this special experience!

Mar'66-Jun'67 Indiana University (the Castle) and Goodfellow AFB (cruising the strip)
- 203x1 classes with Sgt. Charbonneau whom I later saw at Wakkanai; boy, those shots hurt when you reached up for the reels;
'67-68 6921st Misawa; just missed earthquake and hijacking while on way to
'68-June'69 6986th Wakkanai where the newbies were told the fish factory smell was from a crematorium over the hill; forgot that, didn't you??
