Had a great time in Misawa. Worked up on the hill with Dave and Jane kissane, Lance, Daf and SMsgt Johnny R. Jones. Hated the rotating shifts...always felt like a zombie with no sleep pattern. Remember all the guys harassing us up on the Hill theater after seeing "Night of the Living Dead", we didn't sleep for a week! The guys on my shift gave me a great wedding shower in June of '70, lots of Saki, visiting the bars (for the 1st time), going bowling and then playing 18 holes of golf before departing to London. I was back in Misawa after 4 days of wedded bliss. I remember the girls in the dorm, "Brownie" and Sandy Babbit; my first sunrise Acadami wine Easter service on the hill, my first benjo mishap, and all the ice and snow. Don't miss the cold at all! Would love to get in touch with anyone that remembers the good times we spent in Misawa. Regards to all my Misawa family!

Guestbook Administrator's Comment:
[DutchNote: Thanks so much for checking in! I see your own Misawa tour is roughly 20 years past. Hard to believe, isn't it?
For the real low-down on Misawa history and happenings, I recommend you acquire a copy of CMSgt. Babb's book HONTO! (available on this site under the BX Bookshelf). It's a compilation of stories, events and photos he gleaned from our member-only website. It's definitely a journal of Misawa days long gone.]

I recall that I arrived at Misawa not too long after some earthquake wreaked havoc on the security group operations center.
Unfortunately I do not remember any names of the guys I worked with there.
I had my two year tour there interrupted as expected to go 2-T to a "remote" location so I opted for Wakkanai and spent the last 15 months of my military experience there.

My fellow 202 was Mike Reynolds and our OIC was Lt. Daniel Fink. Worked with George Gazaway, Bill Lotze, Frank Ginty, Kenny Daniels, Barry Nuss, Frank Collins, Andy Anderson, Robert Quinn, Carl Nevin, Charlie Olds,Eddy Boss, and a host of other good men.
Unfortunately Lotze, Ginty, Collins, and Olds have passed away.
Think Nevin was planning on retiring there. Does anyone know if he did and where he might be found? Also does anyone remember an Air Policeman who worked the gate into our complex by the first name of Robbie (sp) from Lubbock, Tx. He was a short stocky guy.

I have posted b4 but this past Thursday evening I attended and Joined the Freedom Through Vigilance Association (FTVA) Rocky Mountain post. At the meeting I met a gentleman that was a Flight Commander at Wakkannai during the period 1965-1966. HIs name is Dave Frank. I have asked Helen to invite him to join the Misawa Project as he told me he has many friends that were at Misawa.
