Comments: What a great surprise to learn of this site. Misawa was a special time and shaped the direction of my life. While there, I felt the call of God to enter the ministry, later becoming a missionary to Asia for nearly two decades. My language training assisted in my later learning Chinese (Cantonese) while living in Hong Kong. The friends I made there are still remembered and deeply appreciated. Thus, I look forward to interacting with them through this site. Ron Williams

Comments: I have signed in before, but would like to pass this message to Troy Simmons who just recently signed in. So sorry to hear of your father's passing. I would love to talk with you about him and your mother. I worked many days with Demon in Super 10, played many basketball and football games with him, and partied many hours with him and friends. I remember well when you were born, and yes, even held you in my arms in your infancy. You may give me a call at 770-898-9748 or cell 404-375-9218. I also have several pictures of your parents in Misawa that I would love to share with you.

Comments: I have very fond memories of my time at Misawa AB. As a young man of 18 years old it was an experience that I will never forget or regret. I still share memories with friends who served with me at Misawa, and after 48 years it seems like yesterday.
The photo of the original Ops Building is the building I worked in, and was the only building in 1962. We called it the "Compound". The main support columns had braces for added support from earthquake stess. The photo of the old barracks building could have been the one I lived in for two years. In a way it's sad that all of the old buildings are gone.
AP Alley was an experience in itself. Many young boys grew into manhood in the alley. I'm sure the experience today isn't the same as it was in 1962, and maybe that for the better, and maybe it isn't!
I thank the USAF for my years at Misawa, what a time that was.

Your AFSC in Misawa? x2
Comments: I can remember getting to Japan in 84 going, man this is different. Then I wanted nothing more than to just get home. I spent my 18 months traveling to the Cherry blossom festival, Hachinoe, Sendai, Skiing at Appi. Found out I really loved it there (still just wanted to go home though,,lol)
The rotations were 4 afternoons shifts from 2-10, a day off, come in work 4 mids from 10-6am, a day off, then come in and work 4 days from 6-2 then 3 days off. What a time.
Now I look back with very fond memories. The workdays were long, tiring, but meet so many phenominal people. Would love to hear from Fred Watson, Ed Rand, Jeff Baldwin, Ricky Hale, Grant Huber, Jody Dyer, Marc Ledbetter, Bob Crooks, Lisa Lambert and so many many more..
Take Care everyone, Denny
