Was in Misawa before the 16's arrived and after. Lived in dorm 673 and used to travel up and down the length of the island from Misawa to Tokyo. Good friends with peeps in all branches of the service there. Best tour of my career. Still get cravings for the cheese gyoza and boneless chicken from Companions and remember when the main street was referred to as the "Yellow Brick Road".

I really enjoyed the time I spent in Japan and my time in Misawa. I made some great friends and we did a lot of traveling around the country. I'd love to revisit some of the wonderful places I saw.

Couldn't resist sneaking in. I was at the fire. Also kicked some of you boy's butts out of the Chicago bar in AP alley. Single-handidly put two or three of you in the hospital. I went in to get sewed up the next morning. I ate glass and spit fire and was refered to as a blonde giant by the boys who knew not to mess with me. Them were the good old days. I survived without getting PTSD but i cant speak for the casulties in AP alley. Good Luck and Good Life to all.

Enlisted in AF 09/58; went to "Goodbuddy" for 202X0 training then served several tours at Onna Point, ShuLinkou (2 tours), Ft Meade, Bangkok, Osan, and Udorn before being "farmed out" to SAC, ATC, and PACAF (all intelligence as 204X0). Misawa was my first tour back into the 202X0 field where I re-met old friends (John Piper, Bill Budge, Bill Murray, Dean Welch to name a few). My three years with the Baker Bears was one of my greatest experiences in USAFSS/ESC. When I left Misawa, I returned to Ft Meade then to Homestead, FL (6947 ESS) where I retired on 1 Oct 1986.

Good morning Clothier, WV USA Is on the top right of home page. Is this where the person that does this site live? or my location based on last IP hop?
Anyway, see most info on My Family site. Still have great memories of Tohoku. On second tour led "car and van" on trips to places like the Snow Monkeys and over to Oga peninsula to give others opportunity to see some of the area they wouldn't have gone on their own. Really enjoyed it and the travelers did to. Remember one trip up to Aomori area that we had like 17 vehicles and going through one town we all went through an intersection no matter if red or green, just kept on "truckin". Stopped at a restaurant I had earlier made arrangements to stop. They turned off the sign outside as if closed and we had the entire place to ourselves. I also had my glasses fall off into a benjo on that trip.... lol
Only few bad memories, due to work situation stress, got PTSD from the incident and would be more than happy to help any of the rest of you if you think you may have some similar stressor problems. VA is great, but difficult to get into because still can't talk about some missions (can read about them, but we can't talk due to "true" source) Trust me, I have it in writing from the Puzzle Palace, but that letter also helped me get a hearing from VA.
Great Lunar New Year to all

DutchNote - Hi, Wags ... good to see you around this part of the Internet again. The reference to Clothier was derived on your current IP address (184.14.39.99). At times, it's spot on - other times, not so accurate. I'm guessing Frontiernet pipes you thru Clothier.

I was Baker Baker Baker in the 203 section of Trick 2, 1972-1974. TSGT Jerry Argetsinger lead the team. I remember two New England type winters, going up and down the Hill in a Toyapet, with a bag of sand as ballast...running the Mach....Getting and Giving 15 minute "hits" at shift changes....The JAFD patrol planes, with a red sun painted on the fuselages....Eating boneless fried in the Alley....and the Hachinohe Honey....My 4 year enlistment ended on May 17, 1975...I spent my last year at Ft Meade, and made SSGT around December 1974....

Misawa and the 29252 AFSC were the favorite of my 28+ years AF career. Misawa was my only USAFSS tour. I was retrained upon leaving Misawa and the AF never let me go back, although they did pay me a X3 reenlistment bonus twice because of that tour/AFSC. I remember the 1964 Olympics and the AFN Radio/Japanese TV simulcast. I also remember an X1 who spent a lot time in our X2 section helping us, SSgt Mack; nickname Mack Truck. He was quite an athlete as well as a great ditty chaser. Many times he kept us ahead of the game. I would like to hear from any of the X2s who were on Trick 1 during my tour.

I went to Misawa from Chitose (339th FIS) when it moved. I married my first wife, Eiko Arai, in Sapporo in 1959. My first Daughter, Carol, was born in Misawa Hospital. I do not remember names, but, I do remember many motorccle events, mostly scrambles thru rice paddies. I remember being the only Yamaha rider on a Honda road trip. (All gravel and dirt roads). I was a chater member of the Misawa Dusters Motorcycle Club and a member of the Motorcycle Federation All Japan (MCFAJ). I also gave motorcycle drivers license tests.

"Bob" - Spent 32 + Months at Misawa - Arrived as an 18 year old and left a few months prior to my 21st birthday. Had a TS/Crypto/SIOP/ESI/Eyes Only clearance and still only knew a little about the "Hill" and those who worked there. Enjoyed my first, 2nd and 3rd motorcycles when the weather permitted riding.

Spent too much time in "AP Alley" and drank far too much during our 80 hour breaks between working six shifts in six days. Met some excellent people and sad to say I do not remember many of their full names.

Wow! Does this website fuel the nostalgia. Hello to all. Those code words like the alley, benjo ditch, sapporo, the hill, skiing, motorcycles, football, etc., really flood my mind with memories. I see some real character actors that I remember have logged in - Francis Aki, Pop Tart, and Lulu Miller. I remember Lenn Bren, Jimmy Salter, Randy Graves, Florian Frommel, Phil Epps, Mike Jerome, JoAnne & Chuck Mizel, Owen Adams, Ray Kuzia to name a few more.

I have spent the last two evenings reading what evereyone else had to say and still have 40 pages to go. I always worked behind closed doors in the comm center. When the 68 earth quake hit my ssgt supvr went home leaving me in charge (I thought I was hot stuff). Anyway after watching the ceiling fall down and enormous cracks appear in the huge rafters I told a friend (who happened to be black) to go out to the ops floor and see whats going on. He came back and I swear he had almost turned white saying theres nobody out there.roughly 100 guys had evactuated leaving us on our own. I was also there when nearly the whole town burned down. A lot of us helped rebuild AP Alley which meant a lot of freebees. I would like to hear from Rod White, Danny gibbs, and even Paul Beamer (even though he backdoored me-saved me from marrying her). so many others but I can't remember. I guess thats what running AP Alley and Chicol vill will do to you. It couldn't be that I'm pushing 72 years old.

Arrived Misawa in Jan 65 and walked off Plane into 4 Ft of snow. Grew up in Atlanta GA and only saw snow two times in my previous 17 years. Loved my tour, enjoyed great friend - "Zaf" and many others and enjoyed all my trips to AP Alley. Went on four TDY trips to Southeast Asia due to TS/Crypto clearance with ESI/Eyes Only etc. First trip was to make money to buy Motorcycle, subsequent trips were to honor friends who died during first trip.
